CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical Peels are a combination of different acids used to break down the top layer of the skin, removing damage and revealing a new fresher skin underneath. They have differing levels of intensity based on the needs of the client and the results required.
Chemical Peels are a tailored solution that is applied to the face, neck or hands. There are usually three types of peel (Superficial, Medium and Deep). Chemical Peels are used to remove dead and damaged skin cells and stimulate the growth of new ones. Depending on the results required, peels can be used to treat a number of different skin issues including reducing lines and wrinkles, evening out skin tone, improving acne and oily skin, reducing pigmentation spots and scarring.Â
Superficial peels are mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid that exfoliate gently and only penetrate the outermost layers of the skin.Â
Medium peels use trichloroacetic or glycolic acid to reach the middle and outer layer of skills. This makes it more effective for removing damaged skin cells.Â
Deep Peels use phenol or trichloroacetic acid to fully penetrate the middle layer of skin and remove damaged cells. These peels are extensive and usually need at least a week of downtime. I do not offer deep peels as these should be offered by a dermatologist.
